Art Journals give us an invitation to develop basic techniques and build skills needed to express ourselves. We'll start with watermedia painting techniques in your art journals. We'll then explore drawing, writing and painting techniques, creative mixed media images that will build up your confidence to express your thoughts. Explore journaling in a relaxed fun atmosphere. This class will focus on sketching and painting basic forms with pencil, pen and ink, paint, collage and colored pencils. We'll go out on location to draw and paint to experiece pure nature and atmosphere.

Living and working in North San Diego County, Helen is an Artist, Illustrator, Arts Instructor and Gardener. She received her BA in Art from California State University, Long Beach and has created Corporate and Magazine Illustrations for over 23 years. Helen’s paintings and assemblages are expressively drawn encounters with paint, color and texture that invoke the spirit for an intriguing visual journey. Some of the images recount visuals from Mexico, New Zealand and other lands intertwining legends, flora, fauna and icons. Her works involve the process of transference- subtraction and addition of paint and found objects. She’s currently working with watercolor, pastel and mixed media creating contemporary images.
