Week 1: Introduction to Procreate – For those who took the 2hr class - Procreate and digital art: an introduction - before this, it will be a refresher to understanding the basics of the program, the iPad and Apple Pencil creation of digital art along with an initial discussion on image making and what types of images each student would like to produce. An Assignment will be given so students can experiment with what they’ve learned and share with the class at the next session.
Week 2: A Step Beyond; Further exploration: With the choice of using the current project they are working on or producing a new one, students will delve into the vast variety of textures, alterations and special affects that the Procreate has available to use. Special attention will be given to creating color alterations, special brush applications, and Layer effects.
Week 3: Composition and Design: After having explored the possibilities of the program, students will learn how to experiment with thumbnails using them as a preliminary planning process. They will then be shown how they can extend the process to a preliminary drawing and painting, utilizing the variety of tools afforded through the layering process in the program. Discussion will include subject creation, purpose of piece, and emotion in design.
Week 4: Polishing, Finishing, Sharing: Class will focus on taking the chosen composition created in the last class and either take it to finish or discuss about the finished piece. Ways of using special effects to enhance a final will be looked at along with what can be done to share the finished work through printing, publishing and various places to share artwork over the internet where there are friendly safe places to continue interact with other digital artists.
