Where creativity is nurtured, skills are acquired, and art is made
Gabriele Bitter is a German-born artist whose love for art can be traced back to her childhood. As a young girl, Gabriele was always drawn to artsy things, whether it be music, dance, theater, or visual arts. It wasn’t until she moved to the United States, however, that she began to explore and obtain a formal education in the arts. Raised in Europe, Gabriele has been influenced by many different painting styles, which can be seen in her own art. Her works have a distinguishable look with their strong colors and textures. Many of her compositions are anchored with geometric shapes and lines, creating both balance and tension. Texture is a very important element in her work.
“My artwork is a reflection of myself. I work mostly intuitively without a plan. In a way that is how I move through life.” — Gabriele
In addition to painting with acrylics and oils, Gabriele enjoys creating prints with modern and old printmaking techniques. Monoprints, intaglio, and linocut have become an intricate part of her artwork. She also has a deep love for encaustic painting—a method of painting that involves wax-based pigments. Gabriele has had her works exhibited in art galleries and organizations throughout Germany and the United States. Her art was also featured in “Project 36” with Theatre Arts West, and the Playwrights and Artists Series II.
