Join instructor Helen Shafer Garcia as inspiration and process will guide you to explore watercolor techniques in a relaxed and fun atmosphere! Helen will show you contemporary experimental painting techniques including pours, negative painting, mark making, and surface textures to create glaze layers in exploratory flora and fauna compositions. Pigment characteristics, color theory, composition and design will also be covered with demos, critiques, and individual instruction. Students should have some knowledge of basic watercolor techniques.
Note: there is a $15 cash-only supply fee due in class which covers special papers, collage papers and acrylic inks.
Supplies Students Bring: Supply list will be available upon registration.
Needed for the first class: 1 sheet arches 140 lb cold, pressed watercolor paper- cut into quarters or a watercolor block 11" x 15" or larger, one #12 or #14 round watercolor brush, watercolor paints you already have on hand, palette, and water container.
