About the event

This introductory poetry course is crafted for both new and practiced writers. Join local poet, Adam Bishop, as he shares with students the art of writing poetry by encouraging play and experimentation. Throughout the class, Adam will provide poems from renowned as well as lesser known poets, guide conversations and workshops about your and your classmates' poetry, and even create space for you to perform your work to an audience.
This Foundations of Creative Writing class is focusing on pastoral poetry. While introducing contemporary and historical examples of pastoral poetry--a literary mode dating back to the ancients--Adam's goal is to make writing poetry accessible to new (or nervous) writers and exciting for everyone involved. Studying pastoral poetry in this class will indulge writers with the arcadian scenes of our friendly village, Fallbrook, and its neighboring towns.
